Here it is! My first Yellow Bunting article. Leave a comment!
I would have loved to go into even more detail and bring up some counter points (namely the Drew Barrymore film Ever After) but the whole area of adaptations and fairytales is huge and I needed to whittle it down.

Yellow Bunting!
A little while I ago I foreshadowed an exciting development on the horizon and we have reached it!
Yellow Bunting is a new venture from a group of young women tired of the cookie cutter, negative magazines saturated with poor images of women and uninspiring articles. In response we have created an alternative. The first article by the lovely Becky Jennings was published yesterday and it will be the first of many. My dear friend and fellow blogger Daisy will also be a contributor alongside some other fabulous ladies. I will be writing a film article every fortnight, the first of which will be published the coming Friday. I hope you guys will enjoy reading it as much as we are enjoying writing it and if you feel inspired we will soon be taking submissions!

The use and abuse of Sigur Rós music in film
Whimsical Icelandic songmeisters Sigur Rós are the go to guys for movie scenes where you need to convey intense, conflicting emotions. Done well, it lends a gentle bittersweetness and emotional lift to a scene. Done poorly and it is tacky and fake. Done really badly and you'll want to tear your ears off.

Marvel Unveils Next Round Of Movies!
I adore a good superhero flick and Marvel seem to be at the top of their game in terms of this. The Avengers was an unprecedented crossover of epic proportions and Marvel are getting ready for phase two which will lead up to The Avengers 2. Over at Total Film, the titles of the next few instalments have been released along with some posters and concept art!

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
I have quite a short attention span and a low tolerance for things that bore me. This may be why I am such a fan of web series. A short ten minute video isn't as time consuming as a 90min+ movie and you can cram in a whole series (or two) in an afternoon.

Review: The Jacket
Top Five Raiders of the Lost Ark Musings
It seems pointless to do my usual under 500 word review on such a film, however I re-watched it today and felt it couldn't go without mention.
It is one of those films constantly referred to as "iconic" so I want to steer away from "Best Lines" or "Best Moments" and instead focus on the nostalgic musings and various thoughts a second viewing conjures.

Script Frenzy Ends
On the 26th June the Office of Light and Letter announced to users that Script Frenzy would be no more due to the fact it hasn't grown in participation as much as its other writing programs.
Its saddening news, I always found "Screnzy" easier to get on with than NaNoWriMo and the first year I took part was also the only year I ever completed the challenge. The 100 page script I penned is still not finished but over the years I have kept going back and making little adjustments but the truth is that nothing would have happened without Script Frenzy and I'm sure it will be sorely missed.

June Round Up
A month has gone by already! Who'd have thought it!
Best: Definately Bunraku but second place is a toss up between the two Woody Allen films The Purple Rose of Cairo and Midnight in Paris. On the internet, the latest series of The Guild just finished and it was ACE!
Worst: They weren't bad per-se but both adaptations of the Snow White fairytale were disappointing in their own ways. They weren't reviewed as I ended up writing a whole piece on fairytale films that I intend to put up soon.
Looking forward to most in July: Film wise it has to be The Dark Knight Rises. On TV, here in the UK we are getting the final two episodes of the first series of Grimm!

Review: Bunraku
Every so often a film comes along and you just know the makers went "Genre. Pft! I don't need to adhere to your pathetic genre conventions!" Bunraku (Guy Moshe, 2010) is one such film.
